Portonovi New Year’s Run 2026 Successfully Concluded: Victories for Kukuličić and Pejović

Athlete Miljan Kukuličić of Bar-based club “Mornar” and Slađana Pejović from the “Nikšić” Athletics Club emerged as winners of the sports event Portonovi New Year’s Run 2026.

Kukuličić completed the 5-kilometre race in cold weather in a beautiful Portonovi resort setting, finishing in 16 minutes and 39 seconds.

“This was my first time running in Portonovi. The setting was beautiful despite the extremely strong wind. As for the result, I can be satisfied, as the wind slowed me down significantly. Overall, I am happy with the first place and the victory,” Kukuličić said.

Second place went to Siarhei Naralenkau of the Budva Triathlon Club (18:19), while Matija Grgurović of Triathlon Club Kotor finished third (18:34).

In the women’s race, Slađana Pejović claimed victory with a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds, placing fifth overall in the general standings.

“I am extremely satisfied, considering the strong wind. We weren’t chasing specific time, but rather the placement. I am happy to have successfully returned to racing, especially as I gave birth eight months ago,” Pejović stated.

Last year’s winner Mirjana Radenović finished second (21:59), followed by Natalija Muravčikova of Triathlon Club Tivat in third place (23:38).

The 5-kilometre race brought together 138 competitors from seven countries. The main race was preceded by a children’s run.

Filip Vujadinović, Manager of the Portonovi Training Studio, noted that the beginning of the year traditionally brings a strong sporting spirit.

“We had the honor of organizing this athletics race for the fourth consecutive year, and this year it gathered a record number of participants. Although we moved the race date due to weather conditions, only the most determined competitors took part, facing strong winds and cold temperatures in their effort to push personal limits,” Vujadinović said.

Marko Tomašević of the Herceg Novi Triathlon Club expressed satisfaction with the turnout and number of participants.

“The results were excellent, with many strong runners competing. It was certainly a great introduction to the year ahead. Cold and windy weather did not prevent runners from showing up in large numbers,” Tomašević concluded.
